‘That Night’s Train’ to stop at Chennai station

Iranian feature ‘That Night’s Train’ has found its way to the Chennai International Film Festival (CIFF) in India.

Directed by Hamid-Reza Qotbi, the movie will go on screen at the World Cinema section of the Indian fest’s 18th edition.

‘That Night’s Train’ tells the story of a little girl who meets a female writer on a train.

The writer promises to call and visit her later. The promise, in the writer’s mind, is just a theme for her new story, but so serious for the little kid.

To overcome the sadness the kid endures, her father who is an author himself comes to rescue.

The events that follow make the border between reality and fantasy blurry and obscure.

Afshin Hashemi, Siamak Safari, Behnaz Naderi, Maryam Boubani, and Bahram Shakeri star in the film.

The film has so far participated in a number of global events, including the Olympia International Film Festival for Children and Young People  in Greece, the Schlingel International Film Festival in Germany, and the Cinekid Festival  in the Netherlands.

The CIFF is a festival aiming to provide a common platform for the film fraternity to show its expression through films; understanding other cultures and project the excellence of this art form; contribute to the understanding and appreciation of film cultures of the different nations in the context of the social and cultural ethos; and promote friendship and co-operation among the people of the world.

Launched in 2002, it shows international as well as Indian feature films. The festival screens more than 100 international feature films.

The 18th edition of the CIFF is slated for February 18-25.
